Is it still a good idea to launch a startup in London, given the uncertainty around Brexit?

My answer to Is it still a good idea to launch a startup in London, given the uncertainty around Brexit?

Answer by Desmond Last:

I was born in London. I am British to my boots. But much as I do not like having to say it I would not advise anybody to launch a startup in the U.K.

The first reason is Cyber-crime. Theresa May is either totally incompetent or intellectually challenged when it comes to ensuring that new and old business in the U.K has a fast reliable connection and the maximum amount of bandwidth to ensure business in the U.K can operate efficiently and at least cost. The U.K Government knows that U.K based cyber criminals are being allowed to operate in the U.K with little in the way of Police law enforcement. This is driving business out of the U.K and preventing new investment. I do not know what version of Alice in Wonderland May and her Cabinet live in but it is one that demands resignations. The E.U is committed to Cyber Security. By leaving the E.U our own standards such as they are will begin to fall behind.

The second is the absolute absence of any form of National Economic Strategy from which to forge a Brexit Plan. Included in that is the absolute absence of our Business leaders in any form of open debate and in that I include the U.K Press. It is as if the whole Establishment believe a fairy Godmother is going to wave a magic wand and the Economy will thrive post Brexit. The U.K is going to be isolated and with that isolation will come a lack of investment.

How can you plan a business future in the U.K when the Government have not produced any form of ‘Business Conditions’ post Brexit? Madness and incompetent.

My personal view is that with the Brexit mandate we should be seeking E.U reform. But May and her ‘Yes men’ are committed to economic suicide.

Already companies in Europe are ensuring their Governments will offer incentives to encourage new business to go to the E.U.

There is a number one rule in business. If the hassle factor is too big so that it swallows up profit then forget it. That is what the U.K is becoming – a hassle.

I am starting a new business. It will be Global and it will employ people. It has a Global appeal and a huge potential. The U.K is not on my map.

One big hassle is how I view the U.K and I sure many others do.

Is it still a good idea to launch a startup in London, given the uncertainty around Brexit?
