Answer by Desmond Last:

I would imagine it is painful and tiring. The fact that we still under value women in our societies means that they have to either conform to male expectations or rise above them – literally.

I do not consider it to be intimidating just as I would not find a man in a business suit intimidating.

On the other hand women in business are the focus point of attention and if they want to feel good with heels then good luck to them

In business I have met more males who I want to tell them want I really think of them than females.

I once ran a company of 90 staff. 80 of then were females. The 10 males created more of a problem pro-rata than the 80 females. My sales staff were all women and all dressed well, not to intimidate but because they wanted to look and feel good.

It has been interesting watching Theresa May evolve. After all she was not exactly center stage as Home Office Minister. Now every line of the clothes she wears is under scrutiny.

There is an underlying prejudice against women in the British establishment May will have to ensure it does not seek to undermine her.
