My answer to How would a President Trump react to Duterte’s inflammatory comments about the U.S. president (“son of…
Answer by Desmond Last:
Obama has spent 8 years lecturing the world – all to no effect. His failed Middle East polices are littered with dead civilians- none who were guilty of anything other than being in his sphere of influence. He is not perfect when it comes to illegal killings.
However Obama has quite rightly objected to President Duterte’s shooting of drug dealers. The Police should not be used to carry out a Public Policy that contravenes the law.
But a more Statesman like approach would have been to discuss the matter with President Duterte at the APEC conference.
I do not believe Donald Trump would have invited the comment. Trump is going to be very hard on law and order and about time. Most of us do not commit crime yet we all have pay for it, endure it and suffer it.
We could do with getting harder on criminals in the West – without of course shooting them.
I think Trump would have intervened by offering front -line support.
Drugs are a worldwide problem. The Western leaders have allowed money laundering through Western Banks to be a key part of drug financing. Something Obama has no dealt with.
Donald Trump will be a catalyst for a clamp down on crime. If the comment were made to Trump he would laugh it off and say “at least this guy wants to do something about drugs lets see how we can help him do it legally”.
