Why does Afghan government have nearly zero influence outside Kabul?

My answer to Why does Afghan government have nearly zero influence outside Kabul?

Answer by Desmond Last:

It has zero influence because America has been too busy doing the government’s job. It has pumped $100 billion in non-military aid into Afghanistan. Where has it all gone?

It has directed the economy with its aid money and contracts. There has been little a Government could do.

What is left of America’s policy for Afghanistan? Very little.

It is easy to be critical. America has had to operate in the vacuum left by a failed and ineffective United Nations. It has not helped that China has played no part in trying to produce a World Peace. Russia too has done little to bring peace to the region.

Now again the Taliban hold large parts of Afghanistan. Obama has resorted to yet another bombing campaign which will kill more civilians.

The Taliban are a fact. They are not going to go away. The only solution is to talk to them. The other alternative is a permanent state of civil war.
