My answer to What responsibility does the U.S. bear for anti-American sentiment abroad?
Answer by Desmond Last:
To us, the World outside America, there are two America’s. There is the ‘People of America’ and there is the ‘Government and Establishment of America’.
To ISIS and Al Qaeda and the next suicide bomber there is only one America.
I disagree with America Intervention in the Middle East. I see the Government of America as the focus of my disagreement not the people.
ISIS and Al Qaeda believe that the people vote the Government in so therefore the people are responsible for the actions of the U.S Government.
If I were to meet ISIS and Al Qaeda I would say to them “do you know how hard it is to get our Governments to listen to us”?
In the U.K they had to leave Europe to get heard, and still the Government does not listen.
If it were up to most of us the World would be at Peace. There would be no wars.
Governments start wars. The people die in the wars. The Armies stop the wars.
When I was travelling through America on my Harley to New York, to hand the Fireman of 911 a poem I had written for them, I did not see one sign that said ‘I hate the Middle East’. I did not see one sign that said ‘I hate anybody that is not American’. I just saw, (except of course for losers but they are in every country), people like me who wanted to go to work, enjoy their lives and help out where they could.
No America. It is not you we do not like. It is your Government’s who seem addicted to interfering in other countries business.
Supporting your own ideals in the world has to be based on the common acceptance of human rights. Innocent civilians can no longer be allowed to die in conflicts and from malnutrition. America must take the lead with a reform of the United Nations. Each Nation must share the burden of bringing Peace to the World.
